During severe weather, it’s usually advised that if you don’t have to go out, don’t. Especially in a car or truck.
If you must drive, remember to leave extra space between your car and the car in front of you. When it’s icy or snowy out, 300 feet may be the minimum safe spacing, especially on high speed roadways or interstates.
If you must know the latest road conditions, turn on your local radio or television station.
DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 for a weather or road condition update. 9-1-1 is for emergencies only. The same goes for local police, sheriff and state police.
